Make sure you have adequate permissions and backup before performing any upgrade.
Updates are indicated to be scheduled out of production time.
The upgrade process itself is quite quiet.
Step 1: Access Terminal
Open the terminal on your system. You can do this by pressing through the web shell terminal or via SSH.
Step 2: Update your license and package list
Before performing any upgrade, it is important to ensure that you have the latest list of available packages.
Run the following commands:
admin > update-license
admin > update-system
This will download the latest list of available packages.
To update if minor version is only step is enough.
For major version update proceed to step 3.
Step 3: Update the system
Now run the command to update all system packages to the latest versions:
admin > upgrade-blockbit.
If there is a new version of the kernel available, it will restart the system to apply kernel updates.
Step 4: Apply available hotixes
After updating the version of Blockbit NGFW, it is recommended to apply all hotfixes and patches available for the installed version. These packages correct vulnerabilities, improve stability and add fine adjustments to the system.

Step 5: Restart the system
Even if it is not mandatory it is interesting to restart the box and validate the operation of the whole environment.
Important remarks:
- Make sure you have a stable internet connection throughout the process.
- Have a roll-back plan in case of update failure.
- If possible have an in-place support at the time of update.
- Always read the terminal messages while running the commands as they may contain important information about possible problems or additional instructions.
- This guide assumes that you are familiar with Blockbit's operating system and have enough knowledge to handle software updates. If you do not feel comfortable, it is recommended to seek assistance from our support.
